    Description

This replica gun contains the colored markings required by law, including a permanently attached orange plug.  Also, the cap gun is a toy and cannot fire projectiles.
This auction is for a Kenton Gene Autry cast iron cap gun.  It is approximately 6" long.  It has a nickel finish and red grips with Gene Autry in script on both grips.
This cap gun is in excellent condition, especially for a cap gun that was manufactured around 1938.  When the trigger is pulled, the hammer moves back and then forward with a good snap.  There is dark staining on the inside of the hammer and in the cap chamber, indicating that the cap gun has indeed fired caps.  The only significant blemish in the nickel finish shows up in the first picture.  Where the barrel rivet comes through the barrel, the end of the rivet is damaged but is not damaged enough to cause any structural issues.  The grips have some minor scratches and a bit of separation from the frame as can be seen in picture 4.  As far as I can tell, all parts are original to this cap gun.
This auction also includes a 1930's era holster with 3 plastic silver bullets.  The leather holster is soft and supple but does appear to have a couple of repairs made with brass paper fasteners.  These repairs do not show from the front of the holster (picture 7) but can be seen from the back (picture 8).
Also included is a Better Little Book (picture 9) entitled "Gene Autry and the Bandits of Silver Tip."  These children's novels (Big Little Books and Better Little Books) were published in the 1930's and 1940's.  This book could be used to enhance any Gene Autry display.
