Unlike to sardine box which you see it from time to time, this butter tub is exceedingly difficult to find. It is also an exceptionally beautiful English majolica with a cow as its finial on its lid, ca. 1880s. The lid is in excellent and vivid condition as I did not find any chip, crack or repair while the tub has a few very tiny glaze nicks to its rim and 3 very tight hairlines that do not seem to go to the front or only barely to the front. They were all hand restored by its previous owner, a studio artist. Like most antique majolica, it has some crazing and discoloration. Please disregard the lighting glares.
