    Description

Up for bid is an unusual early handmade silver basket base, possibly Latin American, sadly unmarked. The bowl is 4 5/8 inches in diameter by 2 ¾ inches tall to the top of the loops, and weighs 154 grams.
It appears to have been spun into form initially, then raised and chased by hand.
There are two handle loops applied to the rim.
The sides are chased with four different panels of figures with bottles? gourds?.
    It has not been monogrammed.
There are no marks, but it has been tested to be silver and is not plated.
Condition on the piece is fairly good.
There is no handle, but the handle may not have been silver.
There is one short rim crack and some evidence of old rim repairs.
There are just a few small black spots and normal wear of use.
An intriguing piece of hand made silver.
